I Want To Stop Struggling With My Teenage Child. What Should I Do?

Clashes of will between teenage children and parents are common.
Here are some tips to avoid such struggles:

•  Don't fight over everything. Ignore things that are small or insignificant. But be firm with your rules over important issues which concern your children's safety, health and education. Like for example, going to late night party or not studying regularly are important topics which need firm handling.

•  When there are struggles, don't let your fights spill over other matters. For example, after you scold your children over a particular bad habit, drop the matter there. Don't remain angry throughout the day. While interacting with your children again, act as if nothing unpleasant has happened between you two. This will help to avoid excessive tension in your relations.

• Find every opportunity to praise your children, laugh, and share jokes with them. Because such positive interactions motivate your children to listen more to your advice.
